Once part of the priests' quarters in an old Augustinian convent, dating back to the 13th century, Maison Tournesol is perfect for a quiet and restful holiday.

MONTAGNAC is situated in the heart of Languedoc's hillside vineyards and near the river l'Hérault, 10 KM from the Mediterranean beaches, and only 5 KM from the lovely 12th century town of Pézenas nicknamed "Languedoc's Little Versailles". In Pézenas you will find many little arts and crafts shops built for the medieval fairs, and many restaurants. In the historic centre one can enjoy beautiful old squares, music, wine and village festivals, flea market and art exhibitions. Also open-air dramatised theatre visits (Comedia dell'arte), traditions linked to Molière who lived here for quite a few years entertaining the Princes and Govenors of the Languedoc.

For the antique amateurs, you will love the many dozens of antique dealers in their Ali Baba caves. In June Pézenas and Montagnac stage historic reconstructions dating from the 15th and 18th century. Montagnac which is known for its 12th century "St. André Church" and Esplanade (square) lined with old Platane trees and terraces where you can enjoy a nice glass of wine, lies halfway between Montpellier and Béziers and 300 KM from Barcelona. 10 Km outside of Montagnac lies the town of Bouzigues know all throughout France for its shell fish oysters en mussels, you can choose from the many little restaurants with their terrases on the water front.

The house has just been completely renovated and is beautifully furnished throughout with antiques lovingly collected from all over the world by the owners, Mr. and Mrs. Stemmann. In summer you will appreciate the fine stone walls perfect for keeping out the strong heat and the cool, shiny red traditional "tommette" tiles on the floor. There are two generously proportioned double rooms to let, each with its own bathroom with handbasin, large shower and toilet

In the the larger of the two rooms named " Olivier ", the double bed is queen size. There is also a comfortable armchair and lovely Dutch antique table and cupboard... The view over the church and tiled roofs of the village of Montagnac is soothing and peaceful. On the landing outside this room there is a table and chairs available for guests - just that little extra to make you feel completely at home.

" Charlotte " is on the first floor with a double bed, fine wardrobe, desk, table and chairs. The decor is original and striking with Provencal curtains.


For families a third room, "Marianne" may be let on the same floor as "Charlotte". there is a double bed, antique table, arm chairs and cupboard in this room with large balcony.

Enjoy your breakfast in the typically Mediterranean courtyard covered in flowers and plants or if the weather is not so good, on the sheltered veranda overlooking the courtyard. In winter breakfast is served in the cosy kitchen in front of a log fire.

Breakfast is served on fine Mediterranean linen and includes tea, coffee or chocolate, baguette, croissants, lovely home made jams, fresh fruit and fruit juice

There is a pleasant and comfortable sitting room with TV available downstairs for guests.

Mr. and Mrs. Stemmann travelled the world over before settling finally in Montagnac and are keen to make their visitors feel quite at home - Dutch, English, French, German and Spanish languages are spoken fluently here.

Electric heating is provided in winter and ventilators in the summer.

If you wish to reserve for periods of one week or more, 50% of total cost should be paid in advance. You may arrive between midday and 6pm at the latest and it would be appreciatedif guests vacate their rooms by 10:30 am.
